Why Listing Guidelines Matter

Muslim Myrtle Beach exists to help Muslim visitors and residents of the Grand Strand find trustworthy halal restaurants, mosques, Islamic schools, and Muslim-owned businesses. The quality and accuracy of every listing directly affects the community members who rely on this directory.

These guidelines exist to keep the directory honest, helpful, and relevant. We review all submitted listings and reserve the right to edit, decline, or remove listings that do not meet these standards.

Eligible Listings

A listing is eligible for Muslim Myrtle Beach if it:

• Is a real, active business or organization located in or serving the Myrtle Beach, Grand Strand, or broader Horry County area
• Is relevant to Muslim visitors or residents, this includes halal-certified restaurants, mosques and prayer spaces, Islamic schools, Muslim-owned businesses, and businesses that meaningfully serve the Muslim community
• Is not a business that promotes products or services prohibited in Islam (alcohol, gambling, pork-only establishments, adult content, etc.)

Required Information

Every listing must include:

• Business name, accurate and exactly as the business operates
• Category, the most accurate category from our available options
• Address or service area, a valid physical address, or for online/mobile businesses, the area they serve
• Brief description, a clear, honest description of what the business offers (50–500 characters recommended)

Optional but strongly encouraged:

• Phone number and/or website
• Hours of operation (especially Jumu’ah hours for mosques)
• Photos (see Photo Guidelines)
• Halal certification details if applicable

Prohibited Listing Content

The following are not permitted in any listing field:

• False, misleading, or exaggerated claims about the business
• Content that disparages competitors or includes competitor names for SEO
• Promotional pricing or discount codes, use the Deals section for that
• Contact details (phone, email, address) placed inside the description field, use the designated fields
• Offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language
• Links to external sites in the description field (use the Website field)
• Claims of halal certification without valid documentation

Photos and Media

Photos make your listing significantly more effective. Guidelines:

• Submit photos that accurately represent the business, interior, exterior, products, or services
• Only submit photos you own or have explicit permission to use
• Minimum recommended size: 800×600px. Landscape orientation preferred.
• Do not submit stock photos, heavily filtered images, or photos of other businesses
• Do not include text overlays, watermarks, or promotional graphics in photos

Accuracy and Updates

Listing owners are responsible for keeping their listings current. Please update your listing promptly when:

• Your hours change (especially during Ramadan or holidays)
• Your address or contact information changes
• Your halal certification status changes
• You add or remove products or services
• The business closes permanently or temporarily

Community members rely on this information when planning visits. Outdated listings damage trust in the directory and in your business.

Review and Moderation

All new listings are reviewed before going live. We check for:

• Compliance with these guidelines
• Accuracy of business category and location
• Appropriateness of description and photos
• Any signs of spam, duplicate listings, or misrepresentation

Most listings are reviewed within 1–3 business days. We may contact you for clarification or additional information.

Consequences of Violations

Listings that violate these guidelines may be:

• Returned to draft status pending correction
• Edited by our team to bring them into compliance
• Removed without notice for serious or repeated violations

Accounts that repeatedly submit non-compliant listings may be suspended. If your listing is removed and you believe this was in error, contact us and we will review your case.
